The Sword of Shannara (1977) is Shannara book one in print. Many readers enter at The Elfstones of Shannara instead. This house defaults to Sword → Elfstones → Wishsong. Do not start on a Genesis prequel.
Why the second book has a lobby
The Sword of Shannara opened the Four Lands in 1977. The Elfstones of Shannara (1982) is the book a lot of later readers prefer as a first taste. Brooks has also published suggested new-reader paths that do not begin on Sword. None of that makes Armageddon’s Children or a Fall of Shannara finale into book one.
What this house does
