Divine Cities and Founders reading order (City of Stairs, 2014)

Three Bennett shelves that shops file under one author sort. The Divine Cities is a finished three. The Founders Trilogy is a finished three in another world. The Shadow of the Leviathan is a third series, detective-shaped, and not book 4 of either trilogy. Pick the door you meant.

Mr. Shivers, The Company Man, The Troupe, American Elsewhere, and Vigilance are standalones. They are not book zero of any of these.

The Divine Cities

Read them in this order. There is no prequel and no contested start inside the three.

The Founders Trilogy — different world

Foundryside does not continue City of Miracles. Either trilogy can be your first Bennett book. Neither requires the other.

The Shadow of the Leviathan — third door

The publisher lists A Trade of Blood as the third book of the series that began with The Tainted Cup. Read them in this order if this is the shelf you wanted. Do not open it to finish Founders.

House rule: name the series, then start at its book one. Divine Cities → City of Stairs. Founders → Foundryside. Leviathan → The Tainted Cup. Stop at the end of the trilogy you actually wanted.
