Dungeon Crawler Carl

It is book one (2020; Ace reprint 2024). Later floors assume the earlier show. Do not start with This Inevitable Ruin. Do not start with A Parade of Horribles.

LitRPG with a single descent. Publication order is the only path. Ace hardcovers are the same books as the earlier self-published volumes, not a new series.

The published novels

Later volumes have been discussed as a finale split. They are not on this table until they are books you can hold. Do not wait for them before opening book one.

Bonus stories printed in some Ace editions are extras, not secret novels. Operation Bounce House is other Dinniman, not DCC 9.

Common mistakes

  • Starting mid-series because a clip was funny.
  • Treating Ace editions as a reboot with a new book one.
  • Mixing in other LitRPG lists as if they share a dungeon.
  1. Cradle (Will Wight) — If you want another finished progression climb with a correct first book.
  2. Red Rising (Pierce Brown) — If you want a colder climb without game menus.
  3. Bobiverse (Dennis E. Taylor) — If the running commentary was the hook, in space instead of a dungeon.
  4. Murderbot (Martha Wells) — If you want a shorter constructed-person voice.
  5. Stop after book one if the temperature is not for you. You do not owe eight floors.
