Naomi Novik’s Scholomance trilogy in publication order — A Deadly Education, The Last Graduate, The Golden Enclaves — a finished school, not a Hogwarts extra.
Short answer · Start here
A Deadly Education
It is book one (2020). The two sequels assume that first year. Do not start with The Golden Enclaves. This is not a Harry Potter extra.
A finished trilogy. Publication order is the only path.
The trilogy

| 2 |  The Last Graduate | 2021 | ||

Read them in this order. Temeraire and Uprooted are other Novik shelves. They are not Scholomance 0.
Common mistakes
- Starting with book three because of an award list.
- Treating this as a Hogwarts reading-order problem.
- Mixing in Spinning Silver as a prequel.
What to read next
- Harry Potter (J. K. Rowling) — If you want the older school spine with extras that look like novels.
- Wayward Children (Seanan McGuire) — If you want another school for people who came back wrong.
- The Locked Tomb (Tamsyn Muir) — If you want another series that will not hold your hand about its rules.
- Poppy War (R. F. Kuang) — If you want another school-to-war trilogy with a much harder temperature.
- The Atlas Series (Olivie Blake) — If you want another finished school that is really one year, then the cost. Start at The Atlas Six (2020; Tor edition 2022). The Golden Enclaves still closes Scholomance.
