It is book one of nine. Do not start with a novella. Do not start with Memory’s Legion. Do not start with a prequel because someone said chronological is more complete.
Nine novels. That is the series.
Leviathan Wakes through Leviathan Falls. Publication order. The show is a cousin; characters and late-plot choices diverge. It is not a license to skip book one.
If you only do one order, do the nine. The series is finished.
Novellas are tissue, not doors
Several shorts take place before or alongside early novels. That does not make them on-ramps. The Churn is Amos-beforehand. Drive is historically early and a poor first impression of the voice. Memory’s Legion collects the shorts; use it after Leviathan Falls, or as cleanup. Do not use it as book one.
Insert novellas after the novel they followed into bookstores, or save them all for the collection. Reordering them to “when they happen” is how people get spoiled.
